Module description
Teaching language
All classes of the module are held in German.
After successful completion of the module, students will be able to
- understand the mechanisms of heat transfer based on thermodynamic laws,
- find the appropriate model for a real heat transfer problem and reduce it to a sufficiently accurate solution by making appropriate assumptions,
- solve approaches to heat transfer problems quantitatively by applying suitable correlations and to carry out basic thermal engineering designs of simple heat exchangers. The knowledge enables students to understand and implement efficiency improvement, sustainability improvement and resource conservation measures.
Content:
- Stationary heat transfer
- Thermal radiation
- Transient heat conduction
- Heat transfer at fins
- Heat exchanger design
- Convective heat transfer
- Introduction to boiling and condensation
